Artist Statement for Final

My project for the final is one that touches me deeply. I chose to do a tribute to 9-11 and the victims this tragedy claimed. I have many close friends and family members in NYC and I will never forget the horror I felt on that day. The tragedy brought each of us closer, as we tend to take for granted that we will see someone "next time". I hope these images will remind all of us the value our life is worth and help us all appreciate each other and each moment we are given together.

Artist statement 5

My dictionary word for this project was forest. It's opposite being water and/or land. My photos were gathered from Bernheim Forest, one of the most beautiful parks in the state. The many scenes at Bernheim you may see are lakes, magnificant flowers, hundred year old trees, mountain views, etc. The variation of my photos blend the lakes, small covered bridges, and the forest with the spectacular sky view in the evening. I tried to capture many aspects of nature including the time of day difference in the photos and the different trees and plants. These photos capture the beauty of our wonderful Spring season.

Final Assignment Proposal

For my final proposal I will create a tribute piece to 9-11. I have every newspaper from Sept 11, 2001 thru Dec 31, 2001. I also have a lot of pictures as my family lives close to NYC. As well, I have recent photos from my most recent trip there. By combining the news articles with the photos, I hope to create an inspiring piece.

I will call my piece 9-11: My Tribute. There are pieces of tribute work and artwork all over Google Images if you search for 9-11 tributes. For something so tragic, it is important for us to continue to remember as the fallen did not die in vain. I hope to create a really wonderful piece.

Artist Statement

For this weeks project I played with many new tools. I experimented with image glow and also adjusting the opacity of my images to help them flow together. I became more familiar with the eraser tool and helping my images blend more seemlessly. The crop and selection tools finally make sense and I was able to utilize more features this week with my work. The images show what one would think of when they hear of New York. The taxi cabs, the big buildings, the Statue of Liberty, the American Flag, music recording artists, etc. All are symbols of what we know as New York City. These images represent an important and historical piece of our history. I really enjoyed creating this weeks pieces.

Fortune Cookie Artist Statement

The images I used are photos from around campus here at Spalding. The setting is outside at a student study area. I feel very peaceful and serene when I am in the study area. However, there are some very tacky items you look at, such as a huge green electrical box and the parking lot. For these areas, I used photos of flowers I scanned from the trees outside and used them to fill the "ugly" areas. In the second image, I adjusted the vibrance and gave it more of a brush painted look. I had not used that tool yet and found it very easy and I like how much difference it makes to the final image. I find myself learning and using new tools each week.

Artist Statement 3

Working with this weeks images, I became more familiar with using some Photoshop features. I feel more comfortable with creating layers and understand a little better about how to create them. Feathering the edges is vital to making the images blend seemlessly. The eraser tool is also a very good tool for helping smooth out the edges. I used a few extra features on this weeks assignment, such as black and white imaging and boarders. I am enjoying using photoshop and learning it's features. I have created some work that I appreciate artisticly, although, I have barely touched the surface of artistry at this level. I look forward to working this coming week wth new images I have photographed and will be able to create new artwork. I hope to better my skills of layering and creating more unique artwork.

Second Artist statement post

The variations of photos I chose are all images of things very close to my heart - my children. Yes, my dogs are my children too! My dalmatian's name was Nater; I just this week had to have her put down after a very eventful 12 years of life; she was my best friend. Her younger sis in the other photo's is Diva; she is my baby girl! She truly lives up to her name as you can see by her photogenic ways. They are accompanied by my human child, who is my entire world. All photos represent what matters most to me; the serenity and happiness that my animals and child bring me. I greatly enjoy the opportunity to edit these photos that mean so much to me.

First artist statement post

The photos that I created and posted are a reflection of two of my passions: football and the Philadelphia Eagles. I was fortunate enough to be able to go to a home game in Philly in November of 2008. While there, I got to go to the players room and meet the players and families. I was in heaven, to say the least. I created this collage from photos I would have never had access to had I not gotten to go to that game. The experience was priceless, and I have photos to live out my story I have to tell. Being able to create different images from the photos I have is an exciting new thing I am learning about. This class is giving me an opportunity to be creative and knowledgeable in many more aspects of my life. I enjoy learning new things and this creativity is a good way to be able to express my self and my art work. I hope to be able to learn all that photoshop has to offer and can use it to it's highest ability.
